Reiki and a bit of history

Reiki is a powerfully refined frequency of healing energy that is administered by a light touch or from a distance by a highly trained Reiki Practitioner.
Receiving Reiki balances the body, mind and soul, strengthens the immune system, reduces pain, stress and provides a calm, healthier sense of well-being.
Throughout history, Reiki has evolved to reveal more of its’ self as we have grown in our abilities to receive and use the healing energy for ourselves and others. A daily practice of self-Reiki will give you the ability to live a happier more mindful life.
Reiki is easy to learn and when put into daily practice changes how we move through our daily lives.
Pronounced, “Ray-Key”. A “Ray” of light and a “Key”, to turn it on.
You can be the ray of light with the key to living and sharing a happier way of being.

William Lee Rand, founder of the International Center for Reiki Training (I.C.R.T.) has spent decades compiling accurate historical information about the key figures who bought the gift of Reiki to where it is today. Mr. Rand and the I.C.R.T. are dedicated to the ongoing development of teaching practices and curriculum that provide the highest standards in the teaching of Reiki. In 2014, through Mr. Rand we were given the ability to work with an even more powerful and refined form of Reiki. This evolution in Reiki is called Holy Fire® Reiki. Holy Fire® Reiki heals the dormant self within the student to help the student uncover their Authentic Self. More information about Holy Fire® Reiki can be read at www.Reiki.org.

Mikao Usui, during the 1920s in Japan, Mr. Usui was guided to change the way Reiki had been taught and practiced for generations. The changes he made proved to be exactly what would soon be needed to care for the masses of people injured during the devastating Kanto Earthquake that wrecked havoc in and around Tokyo. The changes he made provided the means to teach more students who then became teachers themselves. In that way Mr. Usui and his students were able to quickly spread Reiki to thousands of people who had been harmed physically or emotionally by the earthquake.

Chujiro Hayashi, was one of Mr. Usui’s students who became a teacher and he too was guided to change the practice and teaching of Reiki to meet the then unknown needs that were to come. Dr. Hayashi was a medical doctor in the Japanese Navy while the world moved into World War II. He blended his medical experience with Reiki developing a more scientific method of giving and teaching Reiki. Dr. Hayashi wrote training manuals with very specific hand placements and procedures for his students to follow and teach to their students.

Hawayo Takata, born in Hawaii of Japanese parents was a student of Dr. Hayashi. She too made important changes in the way that Reiki was taught and practiced. Those changes opened the way for Reiki a non-western healing system to be accepted by people in western countries, people who had deep prejudices against anything Japanese after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Mrs. Takata taught the students who became the teachers who taught Mr. Rand and others who then brought Reiki to the United States.Hawayo Takata, born in Hawaii of Japanese parents was a student of Dr. Hayashi. Colleen Benelli, a student of William Lee Rand has become a prolific teacher and a close working partner with Mr. Rand. In March 2020, our lives were turned upside down as the COVID-19 pandemic circled the globe sickening and killing people as it spread. We were required to “Social Distance” and to “Stay Home, Save Lives”. The COVID-19 crisis put more people in need of receiving Reiki. More students wanted to be taught how to help others with Reiki, but we were not allowed to teach Reiki in person. Holy Fire® III Reiki had already prepared what we would need. Through Mr. Rand and Mrs. Benelli Holy Fire® III Reiki gave us a new higher frequency of Reiki that enabled us to teach using virtual live video technology. This made it possible for us to continue teaching the students who will become the teachers who will continue spreading the healing gifts of Reiki beyond the necessary “Social Distancing” time in history.

Jennifer Brodigan, a student of Colleen Benelli and the I.C.R.T. Licensed Reiki Master Teacher Program. She is a Holy Fire® III Karuna Reiki® Master, the Reiki Volunteer Coordinator at the hospital in Salem Oregon and a Spiritual Director with Spiritual Directors International. Jennifer teaches in person and live online Reiki classes. “It gives me great pleasure to teach Reiki and to be a part of the transformation that takes place in the lives of those who choose to work with Reiki.”
